Himachal shivers with more snowfall

SHIMLA - The cold wave intensified in the hills of Himachal Pradesh as some areas experienced another spell of mild snowfall Wednesday, the weather office here said.

It said the cold conditions would further aggravate in Himachal as well as in northern India with the approaching strong western disturbances that would bring more snow and rain in the region over the weekend.

Shimla reeled under severe cold wave conditions as the minimum temperature was minus 0.1 degrees Celsius against Tuesdays 0.1 degrees.

Shimlas nearby tourist spots like Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda also witnessed mild snowfall.

The entire tribal belt in Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti, Shimla and Chamba districts witnessed mild to moderate snowfall in the past 24 hours, a weather department official said.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest in the state with the minimum temperature at minus 13.7 degrees Celsius, while it was minus 5.5 degrees in Kalpa in Kinnaur district, 1.4 degrees at Bhuntar in Kullu district and 2.5 degrees Celsius in Dharamsala.
