Rain, snow in Kashmir Valley, more expected

SRINAGAR - Kashmir Valley saw rain and snowfall for the second consecutive day Sunday and the weather office forecast more wet weather in the next two days.

“Rain and snow will lash many parts of the valley during the next two days as a Western disturbance is presently active over Jammu and Kashmir,” an official of the local weather office told IANS here.

Gulmarg ski resort in north Kashmir recorded 1.5 feet of accumulated snow on the ground Sunday morning. South Kashmir’s Pahalgam hill station also experienced snowfall while the plains in the valley were lashed by rains.

“The minimum temperature in Srinagar was 2.6 degrees Celsius today (Sunday) while it was 1.2 degrees in Pahalgam and minus 3.4 degrees in Gulmarg,” the official said.
