NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com) — It’s time to scream and rejoice since people across the world has already witnessed the most memorable solar eclipse of this millennium. People became mesmerized at the sight of the Sun in form of a golden bangle!
It was an Annular Solar Eclipse, which means no diamond ring was formed, only a ‘Ring of Fire’ was seen. This special type of eclipse occurs when the Moon’s apparent diameter is smaller than that of teh sun. The Moon’s shadow falls on the Sun covering the middle portion of it and just the outer portion is visible in the form of a bangle.
The annular solar eclipse was visible in most parts of India but only the southern fringes of the country see it as an Annular eclipse. For the rest of the country, it was a partial solar eclipse.
The best places to see the eclipse in its annular from was Dhanuskodi town near Rameshwaram. The eclipse started at 10:44 am IST and end at 2:29 PM (IST). This is not the total duration of the eclipse but the range of time, different places would see the eclipse happen.
Earlier the experts has warned not to stare at sun with naked eyes during the solar eclipse. Use of binocular or telescope with proper filter was recommended as the safeguard.
We hope you have enjoyed (not with naked eyes!) the longest solar eclipse of this millennium. Feel free to share your experience with us in the comment section below.
