122 animals rescued from Games venues

NEW DELHI - As many as 122 animals, including four cobras, were rescued from venues of the just concluded Commonwealth Games, officials said Thursday.

“We rescued 122 animals, including four cobras, one krait, one blind snake, one red sand boa and one wolf snake as well as monkeys, monitor lizards and birds,” said Kartick Satyanarayan of Wildlife SOS, an NGO.

The NGO was entrusted with the job of running an animal helpline during the Oct 3-14 sporting event.
