Cyclone may hit Tamil Nadu, Andhra

CHENNAI - An atmospheric depression over southeast Bay of Bengal, centred around 1,250 km from here, is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm and cross between Chennai and Ongole in Andhra Pradesh by Nov 7 evening or night, weather department officials said.

According to officials, rain or thunder shower would hit north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts from Nov 6 morning.

The weather department predicted that winds with speed reaching upto 65 km an hour would commence along and off north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coast from Nov 6 morning.

Warning of rough sea conditions, the weather men advised fishermen to avoid going into the sea. They are advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
