BHUBANESWAR - A cold wave continued to sweep many parts of Orissa Tuesday, affecting normal life, and the Met Office said severe cold will prevail in the state over the next two days.

Phulbani town in Kandhamal district recorded 4.6 degrees Celsius Tuesday - the day’s lowest in the state in the season so far.

Temperature slided below normal all over the state, an official of the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre told IANS.

The places which recorded less then 10 degrees Celsius included Sundergarh (6.4), Sambalpur (5.8), Baripada (6.6), Koraput (7.7), Bhabanipatna (8.8), and Jharsuguda (8.3), he said.

The state capital Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, however, remained warmer, recording 11.4 and 11.5 degrees Celsius respectively, he said.

The cold wave condition will prevail over many parts of the state during next two days, the official added.
