Temperature dips to 4 degrees Celsius in Orissa

BHUBANESWAR - A cold wave continued to grip Orissa Thursday hitting normal life, with the minimum temperature dropping to four degrees Celsius in at least one town, an official said.

Phulbani town, the district head quarters of Kandhamal, some 200 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, recorded a low of 4 degrees Celsius. This was the lowest temperature recorded in the state, an official of the Bhubaneswar met office said.

Sambalpur recorded a low of 6.8 degrees Celsius, Baripada and Keonjhar 7 degrees Celsius, Sundergarh 7.4 degrees Celsius, Bhabanipatna 8.5 degrees Celsius and Hirakud 8.8 degrees Celsius.

Bhubaneswar and Cuttack remained warmer with minimum temperatures of 11.9 and 11.5 degrees Celsius, respectively, he said.

The officials said cold wave condition will continue in the state during the next two days.
