NEW YORK - A Swiss company claims to have a device that can create rain, hail and even lightning.

Metro Systems International said in a video presentation it created more than 50 rainstorms in the deserts outside of Abu Dhabi, according to The Sunday Times.

“We are currently operating our innovative rainfall enhancement technology, Weathertec, in the region of Al Ain in Abu Dhabid,” the New York Daily News quoted Helmut Fluhrer, the founder of MSI, as saying in the video.

“We started in June 2010 and have achieved a number of rainfalls.”

Lampshade-shaped “ionizers” in the device generate fields of negatively charged particles, which create the clouds leading to rain, claims the company.

The company even claims the man-made storms produced hail and lightning, the Middle East magazine reported.

According to Arabian Business, over the period of 122 days during summer months, the emitters were used 74 times, and during those times the humidity reached 30 percent or more. (ANI)
