WASHINGTON - After intense negotiations, BP on Thursday bowed to President Barack Obama's demand for a $20 billion fund to compensate victims of the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
BP shares rebound after dividend dropped
Shares of BP PLC rebounded from an early slide and rose Wednesday after the company agreed to set up a $20 billion escrow fund to compensate victims of the Gulf oil spill.

Wall Street analysts continue to believe that BP can pay for its mess in the Gulf, although their confidence level has been dinged by the company's inability to stem the spill - and the political fallout.
Giant shears to try to cut pipe leaking Gulf oil
COVINGTON, La. - The Coast Guard says BP engineers will try to use a pair of giant shears to slice off a leaking pipe spewing millions of gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico after a diamond-tipped saw became stuck.
