BHUBANESWAR - The Orissa government website has gone blank since last two days due to some technical snag and officials of the state government and the National Informatics Centre (NIC), which hosts the site, are blaming each other.

The Delhi excise department’s website appeared Thursday if one logged on to www.orissa.gov.in.

“We can’t say it is hacking. But there is a technical snag in it,” said S.K. Tripathy, the operating head of the website.

However, after the website went blank, the officials are now in damage control mode. The site has been blocked and an inquiry is being conducted.

“In order to avoid damage we have blocked the site. We are inquiring into the matter,” Manoj Pattnaik, a senior official of the state IT department.

The site which is managed by Orissa Computer Application Centre (OCAC) under IT department and it is hosted on NIC server. While state officials blame it on NIC server, the NIC officials blame it on the developers of the website.

“We are providing the server. But the application is developed by the developers. They developers are to be blamed for this,” said R.N. Behera, technical director of NIC state unit.
