BHUBANESWAR - At least three towns in Orissa Tuesday recorded temperatures over 41 degrees Celsius Tuesday, officials said.

Baripada town in Mayurbhanj district, 270 kms from here, recorded 41.9 degrees Celsius - the day’s highest in the state, an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre told IANS.

The other places where the maximum temperature was more than 40 degree Celsius were Talcher (41.6) and Sambalpur (41.2), he added.

Several other places also received temperatures between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius including state capital Bhubaneswar and adjoining Cuttack city, where they were 39.3 and 38.5 degrees Celsius, respectively, he said.

“The temperature was five to six degrees above the average in almost all parts of the state,” the official said, adding that heat wave conditions will continue to prevail Wednesday.
