BHUBANESWAR - Orissa Monday continued to reel under an unprecedented heat wave with one of its towns recording a maximum temperature of over 45 degrees Celsius, weather officials said.

Titilagarh town in Bolangir district, about 350 km from here, recorded a maximum of 45.2 degrees Celsius - the days highest in the state - an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre told IANS.

Although the mercury recorded a slight fall in state capital Bhubaneswar and its nearby Cuttack town, where it stood at 37.8 and 36.6 degrees Celsius respectively, several places in western parts of the state recorded high temperatures, he said.

These included Bolangir (44.8), Sambalpur (44.5), Hirakud (44.4), Sundergarh (44), and Jharsuguda (43.9) Celsius. The weatherman said the heat wave condition will continue to prevail in some parts of the state Tuesday also.
