NEW DELHI - Delhiites will have to brave another hot day Sunday with the maximum temperature likely to hover around 44 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal for this time of the year, a weather official said.

Residents of the city would also have to wait a while to see some rain.

“Skies will mainly be clear with no possibility of rain in the coming days,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The capital recorded a minimum temperature of 29.8 degrees Celsius, one notch above the average.

On Saturday, the maximum temperature recorded was 43 degrees Celsius. The met department has forecast that the mercury levels will rise further over the next few days.

On May 13, Delhi saw a maximum temperature of 44.4 degrees Celsius, breaking a four-year record for that month.
