NEW DELHI J - Delhi remained cool Monday as rain continued to lash the city, the weather office said, adding that it could not yet say whether the monsoon had arrived.

The minimum temperature was 25.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below average. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius, said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

“The skies will be cloudy with one or two spells of light thunderstorms in some pockets of the city,” the official told IANS.

The capital recorded 57.8 mm of rainfall Monday with 97 percent humidity.

“Right now, we can’t say if these are monsoon showers or not. We are meeting around 1.30 p.m., we will decide then,” said the official.

On Sunday, IMD said Delhiites can expect monsoon rains in a day or two.
