Heat back in Delhi

NEW DELHI - Hot and humid weather was back in Delhi Tuesday, a day after heavy rains lashed the city.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature hovered about a notch above the average at 34.8 degrees Celsius while the minimum was four notches above average at 23.2 degrees Celsius.

The maximum humidity level recorded was 100 percent and the minimum was 55 percent.

The weather is expected to be no different Wednesday as the IMD forecast partly cloudy sky with the possibility of light rain or thundershowers.

According to IMD, the maximum temperature Wednesday is expected to hover around 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be 25 degrees Celsius.

Heavy monsoon showers Monday resulted in traffic jams all over the city. The effect were visible Tuesday as well with many roads still submerged in water.

A total of 51.6 mm of rain was recorded Monday.
