Sultry morning for Delhi, but rains expected

NEW DELHI - A day after rains lashed the capital, it was a sultry morning in the city Wednesday with the weather office predicting more thundershowers.

“The skies will remain cloudy with one or two spells of thunderstorms in some pockets of the city,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The minimum temperature was 26.6 degrees Celsius, the official said, adding that the maximum temperature was expected to settle at 29.2 degrees, five notches below the normal.

The official said the humidity levels oscillated between a high of 97 percent and low of 59 percent.

The rain recorded from 8.30 p.m. Tuesday to 8.30 a.m. Wednesday was 2.7 mm. Delhi has so far received 228.8 mm of rain, 10 percent below average.
