NEW DELHI - Residents of south Delhi are facing regular power outages as two major transformers at the Okhla

sub-station, one of the main sources of supply for the area, are being repaired, an official said.

According to Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) the two transformers,

one of 100 MVA capacity and the other of 50 MVA are not working since Aug 17, due to which there are power disruption complaints in parts of south Delhi.

“The two transformers were old and in a bad shape so we needed to change them. The 100 MVA transformer will be changed by this

month-end. The 50 MVA transformer will be replaced with 100 MVA capacity transformer, so in future their will be no load shedding complaints,” DTL spokesperson Rishi Raj told IANS.

“The power disruption in south Delhi cannot be attributed only to the non-functioning of transformers. There are other complaints which the discom companies should attend to,” he added.

When contacted, a BSES official said they had nothing to do with the outages issue in south Delhi. They had received a few power disruption complaints in some areas due to heavy rains and these were rectified, he added.
