Rains continue to lash Delhi, more to come (Second Lead)

NEW DELHI - Rains continued to lash the Indian capital for the third consecutive day Saturday, hitting life hard with flooding of roads and traffic jams. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in some areas Sunday.
At many traffic junctions, harried traffic policemen drenched in rain guided motorists struggling to move through slushy water.
According to the traffic police, they received about 25 complaints of water logging since Friday evening and the areas that were the worst hit included Nigambodh Ghat, Rajghat, Kalkaji, Ber Sarai and Chirag Delhi.
River Yamuna also flowed above danger mark, posing a threat to low-lying localities.
The maximum temperature almost equalled the minimum temperature after settling at 28.4 degrees Celsius, six notches below average, an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The minimum temperature, however, was a notch above normal at 26.8 degrees.
The Met office forecast that while the maximum temperature will be 30 degrees Sunday, the minimum will be 26 degrees. Heavy rains are likely in some areas, it said.
The weatherman said the city got 42.3 mm rainfall from Friday morning till 5.30 p.m. Saturday.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi received 78 complaints of water logging from across the capital, 25 cases of tree falls besides three incidents of building collapses since Friday evening.
The city also witnessed high humidity levels at 97 percent and a low of 88 percent.
The capital has received a total 634.4 mm of rainfall this monsoon.
