No rain in cloudy Delhi

NEW DELHI - A cloud cover remained over Delhi throughout Saturday, a day on which the maximum temperature remained a notch above the average and high humidity led to sticky and uncomfortable conditions.
“It was cloudy the whole day,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to a met official, the capital received 17.3 mm of rainfall from Friday morning till 8.30 a.m. Saturday, with no traces of rain during the day.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 35.1 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 25.6 degrees Celsius, both a notch above the average, the official said.
The maximum temperature Sunday is expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 26 degrees Celsius, the official said.
The humidity levels on Saturday were on the higher side with the maximum recorded at 97 percent and the minimum at 62 percent.
The city has received 698.6 mm of rainfall so far this monsoon, which is 41 percent above the average.
In August alone, Delhi has received 455.1 mm of rainfall - almost 100 percent above the average.
“The rains will continue till the end of this month or may even extend till mid-September,” a Met official said.
