NEW DELHI - The skies over Delhi were overcast Tuesday but the weather office predicted a dry day ahead.

“The sky will remain cloudy though rains may not occur,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department.

Many residents were relieved with the break from heavy rains and the inevitable fallout — waterlogging and traffic jams. There have been no rains in Delhi since Saturday.

The minimum temperature was two notches above the average at 27 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was expected to hover around 36 degrees. The humidity was recorded between 88 and 60 percent.

Delhi is seeing one of its wettest monsoons with the average of rainfall rising 38 percent above average.

A total of 698.6 mm of rainfall has been recorded since the monsoon started, against the average of 506.1 mm for this part of the year.
