Hot, humid day in Delhi, rains likely Wednesday

NEW DELHI - Delhi witnessed a hot and humid Tuesday with the temperature remaining above average. However, the weatherman predicts rains Wednesday.
Delhi recorded a maximum of 34.7 degrees Celsius, a notch above average, while the minimum settled at 28 degrees Celsius, two degrees above average for this time of the season.
The maximum humidity was on the higher side at 88 percent while the minimum was 70 percent.
The met office forecast a partly cloudy sky Wednesday with the possibility of light showers and thunderstorms in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 36 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The city received 455.1 mm of rain in the month of August alone - almost 101 percent above the average - making it the wettest month in the past 10 years.
“The total seasonal rainfall for this year till August was much more than the normal as compared to last year. We are expecting more showers in Delhi during September but it might be less compared to August,” B.P. Yadav, director of the India Meteorological Department, told IANS.
