Hot and humid morning in Delhi, rains likely

NEW DELHI - It was a hot and humid morning for Delhiites Thursday as the rainclouds disappeared from the sky and the maximum humidity reached 97 percent. The weather office predicted rain later in the day.

“There is a chance of light rains or thundershowers in parts of capital in the evening,” said an official of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.8, a notch above average. The maximum is expected to hover around 33 degree Celsius.

The capital received 2.6 mm of rainfall from Wednesday morning till 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Delhi has recorded 816.5 mm of rainfall so far this monsoon, which is 43 percent above average. In September alone, the capital received 115.3 mm of rainfall - almost 88 percent above average.
