NEW DELHI - Delhi woke up to a wet morning Friday and the weather office forecast partly cloudy sky and light rains during the day, which is expected to be sultry.

“There may not be much rains but the sky will remain partly cloudy. There is possibility of light rains in some parts,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department.

The day is expected to be sultry as the weather office predicted high temperatures.

“The temperature will remain high. The minimum will be around 26 degrees Celsius, which is two notches above average, and the maximum is expected to be around 34 degrees,” the official said.

Absence of rains brought respite to Delhiites who have been coping with the flood threat posed by rising water level of the Yamuna, which Friday morning stood at 206.6 metres — well above the danger mark.

The national capital has seen one of its wettest monsoon this year with the season’s total rainfall touching 820 mm, 43 percent above average.
