Prince Charles views Polish bison, without Camilla
WARSAW, Poland — Prince Charles visited a primeval forest in eastern Poland, where he saw bison on Tuesday and met with local environmentalists and children. But his wife, Camilla, canceled plans to make the trip with him due to back pain.
Clarence House said that Camilla pinched a nerve in her back and canceled plans to travel with her husband by helicopter and over bumpy roads from Warsaw to eastern Poland, where the prince visited a bison reserve in a primeval forest.
Charles next visited a mosque in the village of Kruszyniany belonging to Poland’s tiny Muslim Tatar community. Women dressed in the ethnic group’s traditional attire performed a folk dance for him before he was offered a meal of traditional Tatar dishes.
Camilla instead visited the British Embassy in Warsaw and viewed a new museum on the life of Polish piano composer Frederic Chopin.
The couple arrived Monday in Poland, starting a nine-day visit to central Europe that will also take them to Hungary and the Czech Republic.
