CHANDIGARH - Isolated rainfall in this union territory and its surrounding areas early Wednesday made the morning somewhat pleasant and led to a marginal dip in temperature.
However, met officials said the respite was only temporary and would not be enough to bring respite from the scorching heat.
“Due to the morning showers, we are expecting a dip of around three to four degrees Celsius in the morning in Chandigarh. But it will not bring any respite from the heat during the day, in fact this rainfall will raise the humidity level,” a met official warned.
He added: “We are expecting rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in Chandigarh and in various parts of Punjab and Haryana in the next 24 hours. Yes, it could certainly bring down the mercury by three-four notches in the region.”
Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, Tuesday recorded a minimum morning temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, six degrees above average.
