HYDERABAD - Monday was the hottest day of this season in Hyderabad as the mercury touched 44 degrees Celsius, the weatherman said.

A day after recording 43 degrees, the mercury rose by another degree Monday, making the weather yet more unbearable for the residents.

Streets were deserted in the afternoon as most of the people preferred to remain indoors to escape the heat.

According to the Met department, the hot weather conditions would continue at least for the next few days.

The citizens had heaved a sigh of relief last week after the temperature fell to normal level following thundershowers. The weather had remained pleasant almost the entire week.

However, the hot weather conditions returned Sunday with the mercury once again soaring to 43 degrees.

Adilabad remained the hottest place in Andhra Pradesh with the mercury hovering around 45 degrees Celsius.
