BEIJING - China Thursday rolled out the production line of the country’s fastest train, which promises a top speed of 380 km per hour.

The new generation train was launched in Jilin province’s capital Changchun.

The trains, of which China has intellectual property rights, will run for the first time on the Beijing-Shanghai high speed track to be opened in 2011, Dong Xiaofeng, chairman of Changchun Railway Vehicles Co. Ltd., was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

The company is a subsidiary of China CNR Corp., one of the country’s two train makers.

High-speed trains with maximum operating speed of 350 km have been running on three lines that link Beijing and Tianjin, Wuhan and Guangzhou, Zhengzhou and Xi’an.
