PATNA - Monsoon rains have finally lashed parts of Bihar, bringing respite to millions seeking escape from a scorching summer.

Purnea, Supaul, Kishanganj, Muzaffarpur and Araria districts experienced moderate to heavy rainfall.

“This is enough indication that conditions for the onset of monsoon have turned favourable and monsoon has finally arrived in Bihar,” Animesh Chandra, director of the Meteorological department here, told IANS.

“The entire state is expected to get rains in the next couple of days,” he said.

The monsoon failed last year, forcing the government to declare 26 of the 38 districts as drought hit.
