JOHANNESBURG - Jabulani, an octopus at an aquarium in Cape Town, is South Africa’s own version of the psychic German octopus Paul, which has been successfully predicting winners in all of Germany’s games in the World Cup.

The octopus at the Two Oceans aquarium in Cape Town was put to the test Friday morning by the aquarium staff.

As with the German marine animal, two jars were lowered into his tank, one containing the Spanish flag and the other the Dutch flag.

Jabulani picked the Spaniards as winners of Sunday’s final in Johannesburg, Xinhua reported citing Talk Radio 702.

Paul, the German counterpart, has so far predicted eight consecutive correct results during the tournament. He has also predicted that Spain will win.

Jabulani, the same name as the World Cup ball, means “happiness” in the Zulu language.
