LONDON - Tarun Kapur, one of Britain’s leading ’super’ headteachers has described Facebook as ‘evil’ and the ’scourge of every school’.

Kapur, who was awarded a CBE by the Queen of England in 2009 for his services to education, blamed the social networking site for increasing bullying among pupils.

Kapur, who is executive head of three schools in Greater Manchester, warned parents that teachers in Britain are facing a difficult challenge to deal with its dangerous influence.

Although use of Facebook is banned in his schools, he said that children access the site from home to post bullying comments about fellow pupils and then the teachers have to ‘pick up the pieces.’

Whereas, a spokeswoman for Facebook said that a new campaign aimed at getting safety messages to young people through the website and included working with some of the leading child protection and anti-bullying organisations has been initiated, reports The Daily Express. (ANI)
