Hot, muggy day in Delhi, rain expected Sunday

NEW DELHI - It was a hot and muggy Saturday for Delhiites as the rain gods overlooked the capital for the second consecutive day. The met office has predicted rains Sunday.

An official of the India Meteorological Department said: “Skies will remain cloudy and light rains or thundershowers are expected.”

The maximum temperature was recorded at 32 degrees Celsius, two notches below the average, while the minimum was at 24.1 degrees - normal for this time of the season.

The humidity levels were high and vacillated between 95 percent and 66 percent.

The maximum temperature Sunday is expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 23 degrees.

Delhi has recorded a total rainfall of 889 mm this season, around 48 percent above the average.
