Chandrasekhar will always inspire students: PM

NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said the works of Nobel prize winner Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar will always inspire young scientists all over the world.

In a message to the scientist’s wife Lalitha Chandrasekhar on the birth centenary of the astrophysicist, the prime minister said Chandrasekhar’s achievements in the world of science remain a source of inspiration for young scientists all over the world, but particularly for those from the land of his birth.

The prime minister also directed Ministry of Science and Technology to commemorate the birth centenary year of Chandrasekhar in a befitting manner.

Chandrasekhar won the Nobel prize for physics in 1983.
