Delhiites pull out winter wear as mercury dips

NEW DELHI - With the mercury dipping and the morning turning misty, Delhiites were seen draping thin shawls and sporting sweatshirts to beat the chill Thursday morning.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature, recorded at 15 degrees Celsius, was a notch above average for this time of the year.
“There was mist in the morning but it will be a clear sky as the day advances. The chill will be back in the evening. The maximum temperature is expected to be 30 degrees Celsius,” an IMD official said.
Amita Mehra, a student, said: “I have classes at 8.40 a.m. everyday and these days it’s quite chilly in the morning. So I have to wear a sweatshirt to college. However, as the day advances it starts getting very warm.”
The humidity level, recorded at 8.30 a.m. Thursday, was 75 percent.
On Wednesday the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 30.2 and 17 degrees Celsius respectively.
