Warmer Sunday, mercury to plummet in days ahead

NEW DELHI - A day after Delhi recorded the season’s lowest minimum temperature, the mercury went up a little Sunday, but chilly winds swept the capital and the met department forecast a colder week ahead.

The minimum temperature was 9.4 degrees Celsius - a notch above average for this time of the season. On Saturday, the minimum settled at 6.2 degrees, three notches below average, while the maximum was 20.4 degrees - four notches below average.

“The maximum temperature recorded Sunday was a notch below average at 22.7 degrees,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official told IANS.

“However, the mercury level will fall again Monday. According to our forecast, the minimum and maximum temperatures Monday will be around 8 and 22 degrees respectively,” the official added.

The humidity wavered between 41 percent and 73 percent.
