CHANDIGARH - It was cold in Punjab, Haryana and their shared capital Chandigarh Thursday. The weatherman has predicted isolated spells of rain and a further plunge in the mercury in this region in the coming days.

Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 8.8 degrees Celsius. Amritsar had a low of 6.5, four degrees below average. Patiala and Ludhiana recorded lows of 7.5 and 8.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

“Due to the presence of western disturbances, this part of northern India can get isolated spells of rainfall in the next two-three days. It would also cause a sharp dip in both the day and night temperature of this region,” said a Met official.

In Haryana, minimum temperatures in Ambala, Hisar and Karnal were 7.6, 8.6 and 7.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
