Summary Box: Nissan Leaf sales start this year
THE CAR: The Nissan Leaf, an all-electric car powered by a lithium-ion battery pack.
THE RANGE: Nissan says the Leaf will be able to travel 100 miles on a single electric charge. It takes up to eight hours to charge on a 220-volt charging station.
THE PRICE: Pricing will be announced in April, but a spokesman says it will be similar to a base-level Toyota Prius, which starts at $22,800.
WHEN CAN I BUY ONE?: Nissan will start taking reservations in April from a pool of 50,000 people who have expressed interest so far. Deliveries will start in December.
