CHANDIGARH - An overcast sky and drizzle greeted Chandigarh and its surrounding areas Tuesday morning, but soon it was followed by bright sunshine.

Most parts of Haryana and some parts of Punjab also received mild rainfall during the early hours Tuesday.

“We had short spells of rain and drizzle in most parts of Haryana like Bhiwani, Narnaul and Karnal in the wee hours Tuesday. Then the cold weather in the region subsided due to the bright sunshine,” said a Met official here.

He added: “We expect the weather to remain stable without any significant rise or plunge in the mercury in the coming days. However, both Punjab and Haryana can receive isolated spells of rain over the next two days due to the presence of western disturbances over the region.”

Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 14.6 degrees Celsius Tuesday.

Amritsar city recorded a minimum of 13.9 degrees Celsius, whereas Ludhiana and Patiala cities registered lows of 12.6 and 14 degrees Celsius Tuesday.

The neighbouring state of Haryana experienced a dip in the mercury. Bhiwani, Narnaul and Karnal cities recorded minimum temperatures of 10.6, 11 and 13.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
