CHANDIGARH - There was no relief from the scorching heat in Chandigarh and surrounding areas Wednesday despite rains and thunderstorm a day earlier.

The city recorded a minimum temperature of 27.2 degrees Celsius Wednesday and a maximum of 39.2 degrees Tuesday - two degrees above average on both days.

The city received 3.8 millimetre rainfall Tuesday.

“The rains did not bring any substantial relief from the heat,” a Met official said. “We expect light to moderate rains and thunderstorm by the evening or at night.”

The thunderstorm uprooted many trees and disrupted power supply.
