Delhi shivers as mercury dips

NEW DELHI - A bright day notwithstanding, the capital Wednesday shivered as the mercury dropped below the average for this time of the year.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the minimum temperature was 8 degrees Celsius, a notch below average. The maximum was also one degree below average at 23.4 degrees Celsius.

The morning fog cleared as the day advanced. Thursday is expected to be foggy. The minimum and maximum temperatures were expected to hover around 8 and 23 degrees Celsius respectively.

“Temperatures will continue to drop now, as cold winds will blow through the city in the evenings and early mornings,” the official added.

The minimum and maximum humidity levels were recorded at 38 and 97 percent respectively.
