High hills of Himachal freeze over

SHIMLA - Winter tightened its grip on Himachal Pradesh Friday with Keylong being the coldest town at a minimum temperature of minus 5 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti district, was down by 2.1 degrees Celsius compared to Thursday. Keylong is some 250 km from the tourist resort of Manali.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw a low of minus 2 degrees, while the temperature was 1.2 degrees at Bhuntar in Kullu district and 6.3 degrees at Dharamsala in Kangra district, a met department release said here.

Shimla recorded a minimum of 3.8 degrees, a slight fall from Thursday’s 3.9 degrees Celsius.

The met office said clouds would hover across the state Friday with a mild spell of rain or snow in some parts of the state.
