Hisar shivers at 3.2 degrees

CHANDIGARH - A cold wave swept most parts of Punjab and Haryana with Hisar town being the coldest in the region with a minimum temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius Monday.

Apart from the drop in the mercury, Met officials also predicted light rainfall in the coming two-three days that would bring the temperature further down.

“Most parts of Haryana and Punjab are seeing a cold wave. Today (MOnday) also had light fog early in the morning that disrupted road traffic at various places,” a Met official here told IANS.

“We are also expecting light rainfall in some parts of this region in the next two-three days and this would lead to a fall in the temperature, especially during night,” he said.

Ambala and Karnal towns recorded a minimum temperature of 4.7 and 6.4 degrees respectively Monday.

Chandigarh, which is the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded a minimum temperature of 5.8 degrees Celsius Monday.

In Punjab, while the minimum temperature in Amritsar was 6.8 degrees Celsius, it was 5.9 in Patiala and 6.3 in Ludhiana Monday morning.
