Cold, foggy day in Delhi, more to follow

NEW DELHI - Thick fog covered Delhi Saturday and, with a chilly wind blowing, the maximum temperature nose-dived nine degrees below average to 12.4 degrees Celsius, the weather office here said.

The met office has predicted heavy fog to shroud the city in the days ahead.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 12.4 degrees while the minimum settled at 4.3 degrees, three notches below average, an official at the India Meteorological department (IMD) said.

The humidity levels were high - maximum 100 percent and minimum 76 percent.

According to the IMD, the temperature is expected to dip further Sunday.

The chilly conditions will persist in the week ahead and the maximum and minimum temperature tomorrow (Sunday) will be around 12 and 5 degrees, the official said.
