SHIMLA - The hills of Himachal Pradesh Monday continued to be in the grip of the severe cold with snow-blocked roads affecting traffic.

Roads in the upper Shimla areas remained blocked because of the heavy snowfall in the region last week. Traffic was disrupted for the third consecutive day.

A government spokesperson said that no bus of the state-run transport corporation has been plying in upper Shimla since Saturday evening as a large number of vehicles were stuck in snow between Kufri and Narkanda.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place in the state at a minimum temperature of minus 14.9 degrees Celsius, Meteorological office director Manmohan Singh told IANS.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded a low of minus 5.4 degrees.

Shimla’s minimum temperature stood at 2.3 degrees Celsius, a lot warmer than Sundays minus 3.3 degrees.

Dharamsala recorded a low of minus 1.8 degrees while the minimum temperature in Bhuntar was 0.3 degree and Solan 0.6 degree and Palampur 1 degree Celsius.
