NEW DELHI - Even though Sunday started on a sunny note for Delhi, rain and squalls hit the capital in the afternoon. No rain has been forecast for Monday.

The city recorded 8.6 mm rainfall Sunday, India Meteorological Department said.

The early morning mist gave way to sunshine, but by late afternoon the sky became cloudy and the rain soon followed.

The maximum temperature during the day was recorded at 26.4 degrees Celsius, which was a notch above average, an official said.

The minimum temperature however was a degree below average at 10.3 degrees.

According to IMD, rainfall was expected through the night, but Monday may not see any rain.

“There will be rainfall and squalls during the night, but it will be over by morning. The sky will remain partly cloudy Monday. Shallow mist is also expected in the morning,” the IMD official said.

The maximum and minimum temperatures have been forecast to be around 23 and 10 degrees Celsius for Monday.
