NASA Shuttle Launch

CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA (GaeaTimes.com)- Space shuttle Discovery commenced its journey to the International Space Station on early Monday morning in order to provide necessary supplies to the station. Discovery, with as many as seven astronauts aboard was launched from the Kennedy Space Center today morning with the aim of delivering NASA’s final servicing operations to the International Space Station. It has come to light that the space shuttle has around three women on board.

The NASA space shuttle which began its journey today would be reaching the space station on Wednesday and is scheduled to remain there reportedly for a period of nine days. It has been stated the space shuttle is carrying a cargo hauler which comprises of equipments, foods and other important supplies for the International Space Station. Few moments before the NASA space shuttle blasted off, launch director Pete Nickolenko conveyed to the Discovery crew that the weather was perfect and the team was absolutely ready for the take off in the orbit. To this, commander Alex Poindexter replied that the crew aboard Discovery would be meeting them again in about a few weeks time.

Meanwhile, according to reports, the NASA space shuttle was scheduled to take off around two weeks earlier but the venture was postponed owing to cold weather conditions. Although initially Discovery was likely to be launched in an afternoon liftoff, the plans were changed into the wee hours of the morning due to the unfavorable weather. Meanwhile, this mission is likely to be one of the lat four flights of the shuttle as NASA intends to withdraw the fleet later this year.
