UN climate panel names authors for 5th report
GENEVA — The U.N. science body on climate change has released a list of 831 scientists who will write its fifth report on global warming.
The Nobel-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said Wednesday it received 3,000 nominations and the authors were drawn from fields including meteorology, physics, oceanography, statistics, engineering and economics.
The IPCC has been criticized by some for flaws in its previous reports. An independent review of the fourth report released in 2007 is currently under way.
The IPCC’s fifth “Assessment Reports” will be divided into three parts covering climate observations, the impact of global warming and strategies for responding to climate change.
The report will be released between 2013 and 2014.
