ISRO Launches PSLV-C-15

SRIHARIKOTA, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- ISRO launched the Polar Satellite Vehicle PSLV-C-15 on Monday from the spaceport. Reportedly, PSLV-C-15 blasted by ISRO carries remote sensing Cartosat-2B along with four other satellites.
It was sharp at 9.22 Am on Monday morning when the PSLV-C-15 was lifted in four stages in a 51 hour countdown at the Satish Dhawan space center. The 44.4 meter tall rocket blasted off into the space leaving a trail of dense fumes. PSLV-C-15 shall function to position a total of four satellites in the orbit that includes Algeria’s Alsat accompanied by two other nano-satellites from Switzerland and from Canada. “Studsat” which happens to be a pico satellite carved by seven engineering students of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh shall also be placed in the orbit. ISRO is one of the most prominent space agency of India which have carried long experiments by making multiple launches over years. As a matter of fact, ISRO made a world record in the year of 2008 with a total of 10 satellite launches at one instant.
K Radhakrishnan who happens to be the Chairman of ISRO was a happy man after the successful launch of Monday. He further informed the media that the information and the imagery collected by the satellite shall be employed for the preparation of maps for forests and village settlements. It shall also be handy in case of drafting designs for canal alignment and also in monitoring mining activities. ISRO shall have a total of 10 remote sensing satellites in the orbit which includes “Oceansat” 1 and 2, RISAT-2, IRS 1D, TES along with Cartosat 1, 2 and 2A and IMS 1. ISRO have made India to be a world leader in remote sensing data market which has turned out to be a beneficial affair for the country.
