NEW DELHI - Heavy showers lashed parts of Delhi Thursday evening bringing a temporary halt to the World Cup clash between West Indies and South Africa at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium here.

According to Delhi Traffic Police (DTP), there were no reports of waterlogging or traffic jams anywhere in the city.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the western disturbances over Jammu and Kashmir were the reason behind the showers and more were expected Friday.

“The skies will remain partly cloudy and there is a possibility of rain tomorrow (Friday) evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 25 and 11 degrees, respectively,” an IMD official added.

A total of 42.4 mm of rainfall has been received by the city this winter season, the official added.

Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 24.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal and a minimum of 10.1 degrees, a notch below average, Thursday, the official said.
