Cold wave continues in Orissa

BHUBANESWAR - The cold wave continued to grip some parts of Orissa Friday with the minimum temperature falling below eight degrees Celsius, a met official said.
“The temperature dipped in several places. Bolangir town (in Bolangir district) recorded the day’s lowest temperature of 7.3 degree Celsius,” the official said.
The places where the temperature was below eight degrees were Phulbani (7.4 degrees), Sundergarh (7.4 degrees) and Sambalpur (7.9 degrees).
The official said the temperature dipped in state capital Bhubaneswar and its adjoining Cuttack city. While Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum of 13.8 degrees Celsius, down from Thursday’s 14 degrees, Cuttack saw the temperature reducing to 11.8 degrees from Thursday’s 13.5 degrees.
However, the coastal towns of Puri, Paradip, Gopalpur and Chandbali remained warmer, recording minimum temperatures of 14.8, 13.2., 15 and 10.5 degrees respectively.
Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail over many parts of Orissa over the weekend, the official said.
