BRIGHTON (GaeaTimes.com)- A jawbone that had a large tooth attached to it was excavated on Wednesday from the backyard of a resident of Brighton, Tennessee. The two-foot-long wishbone shaped tooth that is being believed to be that of trilophodon’s was found when the backyard of Jim Leyden’s house was dug by swimming pool constructors to make a pool. At first the tooth was believed to be that of a dinosaur by the contractors and the wife of Jim Leyden; however after the arrival of Roy Young a conservator at the Memphis Pink Palace Museum it was examined and believed to be that of a trilophodon.
It is for the first time that a bone of trilophodon has been found in the Brighton area. The bone was found after 8 feet soil was dug out by the contractors. Roy Young said that the excavated fossil is a well preserved one and that he had seen many fossils of mastodon tooth but this is different. He said to a media source that the fossil looks different. According to the conservator the tooth that has been found was that of a trilophodon that was 8 feet tall and perhaps weights two tons.
Jim Leyden said to media sources that he was shocked to find that the property in which he was living had such fossils buried that might be as old as 30,000 years to 2 million years. He also mentioned that he would like to donate the fossil of the trilophodon to the Memphis Pink Palace Museum. The man jocularly added that he had nothing to do with the fossil and that it might become a weapon for his wife to throw at him.
